Snowdon, Caernarfon and Trains

The Welsh Tour

Did we mention that last night we had real food - that is that it wasn't bought in a pub restaurant and no it didn't come with chips and peas!!! Fresh vegetables never tasted so good. Today it was off on a chauffeured circuit of Snowdon starting in the castle town of Caernarfon.

We were blessed by a sunny day with little chance of any rain. No doubt our family in Bacchus Marsh will recognize many of these scenes and Tadcu (David) recounted many tales of the adventures and escapades of Sam in particular. The swing bridge and the stomping bridge, throwing stones and ice creams were all fondly recalled.

At Llanberis the railway yard was a hive of activity with lots of people waiting for the little engines to push them up to Snowdon. There is a special toothed rail that helps them climb the steep slopes.

Then it was up and over the Llanberis Pass with its views down to the village of Beddgelert.
And it was time to have an ice cream to cool off. This would have been at about 5:30pm and the long twilight allows us to enjoy a dinner of Welsh lamb in the conservatory when we eventually get home.

The best way to close this blog with a view up the valley to the majestic presence of Snowdon that dominates this area.

Tomorrow venturing to different places in this uniquely beautiful part of God's creation. All our love, Poss and Pop
