Finale in France

Nice

The time has come to finally depart from French soil and journey to Italy.

Our last day was almost entirely given over to free time and we decided to spend it exploring the beautiful 'old' town of Nice. This was a truly authentic experience of an old Mediterranean village. Very narrow streets with no cars or buses, only a few motorbikes and bicycles. This blog is devoted to pictures of this place which need no commentary.
Looking down on the red roofs of the old town

A hidden gem , the chapel of St.Rita

The markets were to die for!

In the evening we were taken on a winding road along the coastal hills and the views were simply sensational. Ending up in a tiny ancient village for dinner.
On the way there the guide pointed out villas of interest such as those owned by Bono, Elton John and Bill Gates - whoever they might be? The old village was indeed beautiful but not for everyone, with this steep streets. Rather like the village of Clovelly in Cornwall.

It was too difficult for the Kiwis to attempt and Poss and another lady stayed with them in the restaurant sampling the wine. So thoughtful of them.
But the night concluded with a stop overlooking the lights of the Riviera and Nice. You would never have found this spot traveling on your own as it was not somewhere that our 44seat stretch Mercedes should have been!

Please excuse the pictures as it is difficult to take such pics with our camera.

And when we finally got to our hotel, we slipped down to the very stony beach and had a paddle in the Mediterranean Sea. Well you could not come all this way without doing so. Could you?

A big bus trip to Venice tomorrow so we really must say goodbye to France. We have enjoyed every minute of our visit and would love to come back another day.
To everyone, our thoughts and love.
Poss and Pop
