Cathedral and Croeso

Nebo, Nth. Wales

Today we traveled back through the Mersey Tunnel to Liverpool and the Catholic Cathedral for mass.
Emerging from the tunnel with Poss in charge of the mobile camera unit!

So welcome to this most beautiful modern sacred space. The most striking feature to great you is the circular design and the vibrant colors which are so foreign to the traditional historic buildings we have been visiting.

The tower over the altar is constructed with various stained glass panels. As the Sun traverses the sky during the day, the cathedral is bathed in the different hues and colours. Today the fleeting sunny patches gave the interior a feeling of pulsing.

This is the major feature of the Children's Chapel.  A lovely space that honors not only children but also mothers.
There are different themes in each of the chapels that surround the main sanctuary.  There are also several enormous tapestries that hang around the cathedral walls. They all tell different stories are modern.

Some of the magnificent tapestries that hang around the cathedral walls.

We were fortunate to have the Plymouth Philharmonic Choir also visiting and singing at today's Solemn mass and we were again treated to wonderful concert standard singing. St. Joseph's Chapel is completed in the wood finish as tribute to a carpenter.

After a light lunch in the cathedral cafe we again returned to the Wirral via the tunnel and continued on into Wales. (Croeso means welcome doesn't it Marshians?)

And so a new stage of our journey commences with Nain and Tadcu in their beautiful home in the little village of Nebo.
So from Pop and Poss , all our love and 'nos da' !

  1. It most certainly does mean welcome. I trust you found your way to Nebo OK? The Nebo "Manor" is somewhat different to Bysaleg in Aberystwyth I'm sure you'd agree, but dinner in the conservatory looks very nice. I think a Skype must be in order...

As for Liverpool Cathedral, I agree, it's like no other place of worship I've been to. Such a striking building that merges both old and new so very well. I recall taking a similar shot of the ceiling...

Loving the updates and looking forward to seeing some familiar Welsh territory...

    The Marshians.
