London Calling!!

Marble Arch

It was a very, very early start. We left Bridgerule just after 5:00am as dawn was breaking and the mist rolling through the dales. It was a new driving experience as it was harder to judge the corners at first. But the lack of traffic was a blessing and we made good progress getting into the heart of London at about half ten (stopped along the way for brekkie!).
What a stroke of luck that our room was available for us to check in straightaway! And that it is on the ground floor! So leaving Poss to guard Leon, Pop made a couple of quick trips to the room with the luggage under the watchful eyes of two heavily armed policemen just around the corner. We later learned that Tony Blair lives there, so we are swanking it up in this neighborhood. You name it we have seen all the top brand cars. After saying goodbye to Leon at the tiny Europcar office we had a coffee and jumped on the busses for an afternoon of sight seeing.
It's still here Poss!

The crowds were quite unbelievable and we found it hard to make progress along the footpaths.
But we eventually made our way along Whitehall,

Through Trafalgar square and on past Piccadilly circus.

They don't call it a circus for nothing.  We jumped back on the 'hop on - hop off' busses and went to the Brompton Oratory. This is quite a unique church and is like a little St.Peter's basilica. We enjoyed our brief time in the splendid silence and quiet. Then we walked home for a most delightful dinner at a nearby restaurant.  Chicken and leek pie, prawn and avocado salad with three types of pesto dressing, with a special cheese platter and French red wine! Gluttonous!
We actually move to join our Trafalgar tour tomorrow so we are not sure what we will be doing.

We will stay in touch.
All our love to you all!
Poss and Pop
