Sails and Sand

Tintagel

(pronounced tin-taj-ell)
No post yesterday as we arrived back in town too late to get into the tourist center and their internet connection. But at least we found the launderette for an intended day of washing tomorrow ( yes the jobs don't stop!). Today is Thursday and is the worst weather we have encountered so far. Not much time between the showers but we made the most of our time.
But let us recap our activities of yesterday.

Looe

Because of the weather we headed to the South side of the peninsular and our destination was the small seaside township of Looe. It was about an hour and a half drive from our base and again some of the roads held their own challenges. The countryside is beautiful when you get to see it through the enormous hedgerows.
Not the narrowest we have been down!
We spent the afternoon in Looe along with the usual crowds of holidaymakers.
The weather fined up and we joined the throng. We watched the yachts in the local regatta finish their comp and bring their vessels ashore. Very well organized rather like a flock of gulls chasing over a discarded chip!
Bloody tourists !!!

Despite this view the narrow streets were crowded. Honest!!!

Come in number Five... Your time is up!!!
The town has a working fleet of fishermen, although we didn't see any boats off the coast.
Poss wanted to surprise Pop by booking him onto a local charter to go fishing. Alas the weather won out (and Pop is not really disappointed as he recalls one terrible trip out with Steve on the Gold Coast).

I suppose you could regard Like as a modern form of Clovelly with the houses built into both hillsides of the cove. But here there isn't the control as to numbers that flock to its sandy (yes sandy) beach which isn't very big by Ozzie standards.

After another cross country sojourn we arrived home, a quiet dinner and off to bed. We will write a separate blog for today's outing.
Love, Poss and Pop

  1. Nice done, I was wondering where the next update was. Got into work and hadn't seen one... It's part of my morning routine now! Now is Looe pronounced "Loo"? Or "Loo-ee"? or "Loch"? If it's the first I can imagine there'd be many a toilet gag to be had!! Oh... the childishness...

Also, I noticed in your landscape shot of the town, there is one very precariously parked pram... I hope it's either a) empty b)has good brakes or c) all of the above!

    Keep enjoying!
